Hello Doctor,
My name is Dr. NESTA. I'm not a chiropractor. My doctorate is in education (Ed.D). I'm also the CEO of NESTA - the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association and the Spencer Institute. Aside from my love of health and fitness, I'm a huge advocate of chiropractic. I always have been. I always will. After a bike vs. car accident (I lost), I discovered the incredible healing powers of chiropractic.
Fast forward a few years, I became a radiology technologist, medical assistant, exercise therapist, and massage therapist. I worked with all types of chiropractors, in addition to orthopedists, family medicine docs, industrial medicine, and emergency care specialists. However, I always gravitated back to chiropractic. I prefer the natural healing methods and the mindset of a chiropractor. You know what it takes.
I learned a lot working in the medical industry before returning to school to complete two bachelors, an MBA and a doctorate.
This is what I learned...
Chiropractors are helping more people than most medical professionals and are not properly compensated. And, there are many ways the chiropractic community can dramatically increase revenue and profits all while improving patient care and outcomes.
Think about it...
You know more about exercise than 95% (or more) of medical doctors. But you don't yet have a credential that validates this fact.
You know more about nutrition than the vast majority of all medical professionals (if they even studied it). But you don't yet have a credential that validates this fact.
You teach about the importance of sleep, but have yet to be compensated for it.
You teach exercises to improve posture and restore function. But you don't yet have a credential that validates this fact.
Your practice embodies wellness, yet you've never been specifically compensated for being a "wellness coach."
I think you get the idea.
So, you may be wondering how you will get compensated for such knowledge and services.
It's this simple:
As you know, CPT codes are what makes your world go around. But, you are likely viewing them from a traditional perspective.
Office visit, cryotherapy, 7 view C-spine, ultrasound, etc. --- You can recite the codes in your sleep.
What about 97112 for neuro-muscular re-education? This is another term for exercise therapy, fitness training or corrective exercise instruction.
What about 97110 for therapeutic exercise? This is another term for personal training or exercise instruction.
What about 97535 for self-care / home management? This can now include sleep science/sleep hygiene consulting or stress management consulting.
What about 97530 for exercise therapy (init.)? This is another term for exercise therapy, fitness training or corrective exercise instruction.
And, what about 97116 for gait training? This is another term for biomechanical assessment, running coaching, etc.
TO KEEP THINGS SIMPLE:
Let's say that you receive just 50% of the total amount billed for each service.
Let's say that you offer these services to just 20% of your patients.
Let's say you receive just $25 for each service billed.
Simple math will show you have earned an additional $300 - $1,000 per week with an average patient load.
Yes, of course, it could be 300% more. I'm just trying to be conservative here!
So, how does it work?
First, you need to have the proper education and certification(s) so you master your craft, and have a certification to hang on the wall in your office to show you're qualified.
Then, you offer new "menu items" to your existing and new patients, so they can reach even higher levels of mobility, function, and wellness.
Provide the service(s) and bill accordingly.
Collect what you have earned.
Of course, you can structure these numerous ways for cash patients.
REMEMBER: Your staff can also get trained in these various specialties, so they can perform any of the modalities not required to be done by a DC.
Here are some certification courses we feel will best serve you:NOTE: Each of these are within the same registration cart, so you can enroll in more than one program in a single checkout process.

(CPT codes 97112, 97110, 97530, 97116)NESTA Fitness Nutrition Coach(CPT code 97535)Spencer Institute Wellness Coach Certification(CPT code 97535)Spencer Institute Master Health & Wellness Coach Certification(CPT code 97535)Spencer Institute Sleep Science Coach Certification(CPT code 97535)Spencer Institute Stress Management Coach Certification(CPT code 97535)
I'm sure you know of other appropriate billing codes that apply as well.
And, if you have been wanting to get into large corporations, but are sick and tired of the "corporate health fair" concept, you can earn your credential as a Certified Corporate Wellness Coach. This has a wide range of career and income potential.
REMEMBER: We offer a wide range of programs that go far beyond the list above. If interested, take the time to explore all of your options.
Many of these services can be provided to your patients by your team members. Just have them complete the accelerated and affordable training programs we offer you.
Of course, you may decide to take these courses yourself. In some cases, each staff member with complete the training so you can provide even more service, and be compensated properly.
One final thought I want the share...
For years, I spoke in a wide variety of settings from corporate health fairs, to Las Vegas ballrooms, to VIP receptions, and even on a cruise ship. However, something happened when I decided to educate people on sleep science/sleep hygiene. People asked more questions. They showed more interest. They swarmed me when I got off stage. And, best of all, I made more money speaking about sleep than I ever did any other time. The amount? $5,000 for a 1-hour presentation at "The Big Sleep Show" in Chicago. Yes, that much!
I began to incorporate "sleep" into more presentations. The result was the same.... people asking for more.
I soon realized the health, wellness, and holistic market needed proper training (that didn't take a year) on how to educate the public on the science of improving sleep. So, my educational development team (including a doctor from Harvard, meditation experts, lucid dreaming experts, exercise physiologists, and a Ph.D. neuro-biologist) created an accelerated and easy-to-follow Sleep Science Coach Certification you can complete right now. Without a doubt, this is the easiest and fastest way to help your patients and be compensated for your efforts. This will fall under CPT code 97535 for self-care / home management.
