How to fit in an effective workout instead of claiming there is no time

Stop the Excuses! Make Time for Fitness with this Quick, Easy Workout! The most common excuse I hear (yes it’s an excuse), when it comes to not staying fit is “I just don’t have time”. You’ve heard the saying “We all have the same 24 hours in a day, what do you choose to do with yours?” This is a great thing to reflect on when we feel a bit overwhelmed with our schedules and responsibility. Is it difficult sometimes? Absolutely! However, there is ALWAYS a way to find a balance. There is ALWAYS an opportunity to improve. In regards to health/fitness this couldn’t be more accurate. If you feel your “crazy-busy-hectic-chaotic-neverending-pickup5kidsfromsoccer-schedule” is a reason to not prioritize your health, you will certainly pay for it in the long run. You can’t expect results without putting forth the effort, and in most cases this requires a level of commitment and sacrifice. There is no better time than now to start!

Don’t wait for the “perfect opportunity” as it will never come. This doesn’t mean everyone needs to spend three hours a day in the gym, but EVERYONE should maintain an active lifestyle. Simply striving to implement healthy habits as a part of your routine is much more logical and sustainable. Building a good foundation to support a well balanced life will set you up to consistently see results, which will put you on track to reach your goals. Make every effort to improve each day and take actions which are congruent with your goals. You can’t expect to make a dramatic transformation in a short amount of time (the weight gain didn’t take place overnight), so you must accept the reality that the desired destination is also journey. Anything worth achieving will not come easy, as is the case with long term goals in relation to your fitness level. Implement these tools and celebrate the small victories along the way!

Since we always seem to be on a tight schedule it’s good to re-evaluate what consumes our time and effort and make adjustments if needed. Health and fitness should be important. Take the appropriate actions and make the time! If you want to set a good example of health for your kids, have more energy, or just improve your quality of living; you need to make your health a priority! Regardless of your current schedule or discretionary time, you have the ability to maintain an active lifestyle or follow some type of exercise routine. The body was not created to be sedentary! You’re made to move!

Start implementing healthy habits in place of your old unhealthy rituals, and take the first step to beginning your fitness journey. Maybe you’ve already begun, but have lacked the motivation or consistency to see it through; well… this is your opportunity to make the decision to make a commitment! Celebrate the small victories, make the most of the time you’ve been allotted, set realistic goals, and GET TO WORK!

Here’s a quick workout you can fit into any schedule:

Tabata: (20 sec. of maximal effort, 10 seconds of rest. 8 rounds/ repeat until failure)
– squats
– burpees
– mountain climbers
– pushups
– split jumps
– jumping jacks

Start adding this workout into your current routine, or use it as a stand-alone routine 2-3 times per week.

REMEMBER: Always respect your limits, challenge yourself safely and seek medical clearance before beginning any exercise routine.
